CELTIC INTERLACE
CELTIC INTERLACE new designs 5-6 hrs. Interlace is one of the most important Celtic art forms. This class attempts to preserve this ancient and beautiful tradition. The student will have a hands-on experience in learning the basic techniques of Celtic Bias Appliqué. The student will become familiar with the under and over process which is characteristically Celtic and synonymous with the Interlace art form. Class topics include fabric selection and arrangement, an introduction to tools that simplify and enhance the work, and mastering the Celtic Bias Appliqué. Many samples will be shown in class.
CELTIC SPIRALS
CELTIC SPIRAL 5-6 hrs. The student will learn to work with a variety of color scales, e.g., analogous (colors closely related on the color wheel), triad (any three colors equidistant from each other on the color wheel), and complementary (colors opposite each other on the color wheel). The student will also have a "hands-on" experience in learning the basic techniques of Celtic Bias Applique. Class topics include color palette and texture selection, tools which simplify and enhance the work, creating quilt design from elemental blocks, and framing your art. Samples will be shown and hand-outs provided.
A CELTIC GARDEN
A CELTIC GARDEN 5-6 hrs. The student will learn to manipulate the texture of florals and the varied hues of hand-dyed fabrics to create "a thing of beauty" (anemone, sweet pea or tulip). The student will also have a "hands-on" experience in learning the basic techniques of Celtic Bias Applique. Class topics include color shading, color complements, floral arrangement, tools which simplify and enhance the work, creating quilt design from elemental blocks, and framing your art. Samples will be shown and hand-outs provided.
CELTIC TULIP INTERLACE
CELTIC TULIP INTERLACE 5-6 hrs. The Interlace is one of the most important Celtic art forms. This class attempts to preserve this ancient and beautiful art tradition and combine it with floral applique. The student will have a "hands-on" experience in learning the basic techniques of Celtic Bias Applique. Class topics include fabric selection and arrangement, an introduction to tools which simplify and enhance the work, and mastering the Celtic Bias Applique technique.
THE CHILDREN OF LIR
THE CHILDREN OF LIR 5-6 hrs. As in the Celtic Interlace Class (above) but utilizing different designs, patterns, and color selection, the student will have a hands-on experience in learning the basic techniques of Celtic Bias Appliqué. The under and over process, synonymous with the Interlace art form, will be demonstrated. Class topics include fabric selection and arrangement, an introduction to tools that simplify and enhance the work, and mastering the Celtic Bias Appliqué. Many samples will be shown in class.
CELTIC ANEMONE WITH INTERLACE
CELTIC ANEMONE WITH INTERLACE 5-6 hrs. The floral carpets of the Celtic countryside are the inspiration for this class. The Celtic Bias Appliqué Technique preserves the three-dimensional texture and natural beauty of the flower. The student will learn to manipulate the texture of the flower and the varied hues of hand-dyed fabrics to create a work of beauty. The student will also have a hands-on experience in learning the basic techniques of Celtic Bias Appliqué. Class topics include color shading, color complements and tools that simplify and enhance the work. The flower will be framed with an interlace design. Many class samples will be shown.
